Ocean's Watch

A custom device for mapping tides relative to local time
A

shelf-ready clock that graphs and displays the daily tides for any NOAA weather station.

Put this rustic driftwood clock on any shelf in your home and never buy a tide chart again! Perfect for any coastal residence, or for those missing the salty bite of the sea breeze, this product allows you to see the tides and time of any tide-reporting NOAA station.

Created as a Version 2 for my midterm in Jeff Feddersen's Time course, this clock graphs tides according to Time of Day and Depth Above Sea Level. Additionally, it displays the time, moonphase, and timemarks for the tides. Additionally, the background changes according to local sunrise and sunsets. This piece used the following techniques and technolgy:

  • Autodesk Fusion 360
  • Woodworking
  • CNC
  • Adobe Illustrator
  • Processing 4
  • Raspberry Pi
